O.T.T. (Over The Top) was a Central Independent TV comedy program from Jan-Apr 1982. It was a late night anarchic version of the children's Saturday Morning show TISWAS but nowhere near as cohesive (and TISWAS wasn't exactly the most structured show around). “Over The Top” summed the show up nicely. Its main aim appeared to be to get female participants to lose their upper garments. The main team included Chris Tarrant, Lenny Henry, and Alexei Sayle. The dance, which is based on The Drongo, an Australian version of Ninepins, is similarly OTT in requiring the ‘ninepin’ to remove an item of clothing. Of course with 5 ninepins and an average of 7-10 ‘items per person, the chance of anything being revealed in (say) 10 times through the dance is non-existent (unless, as at Ealing Rugby Club, the women egged the men on to full disclosure).
